these are the photos from the most fantastic, magical bicycle experience. the austin tweed ride.
you dress up in fancy london olde style tweed and ride bikes through lovely austin during a lovely sunday afternoon. there was music, dancing, elegant pipes, dapper men, and fancy ladies… and the loveliest bicycles.

i’m doing this post in segments because there are too many fantastic people to edit this down… more later. stay tuned. tomorrow it’s black and white. you DO want to see the rest.

Camilla Åkrans

I told myself I wouldn’t look at new work until everyone started photographing like Lillian Bassman… Well hello there, Camilla Åkrans. I forgot how much I loved you.
I could go on and on about Camilla all day. She puts the double M’s to shame, photographs ladies like delicate flowers, and photographs ladies like powerful winds. This lady blows it up all over: Numéro, Vogue Nippon, Vogue China, Harper’s Bazaar… you get my drift.

Camilla Akrans, I want to be you when I grow up… or maybe in five years.
all is well in the world with camilla at the click of a mouse. hello 2010.

we’re lucky. it doesn’t happen to everyone.

i’m tired. everyone’s tired. everything is perfect.

we are lucky… it doesn’t happen to everyone.

we are lucky to have youtube and find video of photographers we wish we could be. we are lucky we can shoot film and still afford to pay our rent. we are lucky we have each other to talk to about videos on youtube and not having enough money to buy film. “the luckiest people in the world”…

family, love

dear family, i love you….

my first big photo project was in high school and i took individual portraits of my mom, sister, and dad. several photography professors have said that photographing family is hard because they are so self conscious and expect you to make them look their best. this is true. sometimes photographing your own family looks too forced, and sometimes it is boring, but to me right now these are perfect…

shannon, portraits

a while back i had the pleasure of photographing shannon at her wonderful home in dripping springs. austin is so great, so many beautiful natural places.  we decided to do some outdoors, bright, dreamy photos in the style of sofia coppola cinematography. feminine, natural, light…

the trees and grass and shannon, all lovely.
